MISSION STATEMENT

SCHOOL INFORMATION, HISTORY & POLICIES
Our mission is to enrich the lives of all through performing arts training.  This includes courses and lessons in a positive environment of creativity, self-discovery, self-esteem, and compassion. We serve students of all ages and abilities, including
professional and vocational instruction for career oriented students.  We supplement local school districts and community music teachers through thoery, composition, and performance programs, master classes, choirs, and camps. We desire to develop talents, promote physical and mental wellness, and teach appreciation for viewpoints and traditions of world cultures.

In 1997, Dr. Fredric William Cook (PhD in Educational Studies), Debra Cook, and Aaron Mitchell, began a retail music store on historic Main Street in Park City, with studios available for music teachers to instruct local students.  As the teaching program grew, they formed a separate Conservatory in June of 2000, dedicated as a Community School for the Arts.  In 2002, the school expanded to their current location in Kimball Junction, and in 2006, continued expansion to a satellite location on Foothill Drive in Salt Lake City.

Since it’s inception, Conservatory students have been accepted to nationally renowned programs, including Oberlin, San Francisco Conservatory of Music, Berkeley College, USC, Idlewild, Interlochen, Oklahoma City University, NYU, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Northwestern, Michigan, University of Utah School of Music and Actor Training Program, Utah State, and BYU, as well as professional performing companies throughout the nation.

The Conservatory boasts a highly trained veteran faculty of working professionals and university- trained musicians/educators, many who have advanced degrees and continue to perform professionally. Their caring and knowledgeable staff has the skills and experience to train both “recreational” and “professional tract” musicians.
